On Permit Suspension at I.E.S.

Once again Integrated Environmental Systems has committed serious violations of their permit. In the past, government agencies have essentially ignored IES' hundreds of violations - issuing small or no fines despite repeat and serious violations. But now, our pressure and vigilance is paying off.

In response to these extremely serious violations at IES, the State Department of Health Services has suspended IES' facility permit for 30 days. In addition, the Air District has apparently cited the company for toxic ash violations, and OSHA is also investigating worker safety violations.

We firmly believe the government is taking this strong action - for the first time ever - due to the pressure from our coalition. Let's turn up the heat and get those incinerators shut down for good! This should give added momentum and urgency to the June 28 protest at IES (4:30-6:30 pm).

Spread the word!
