Calpine Drops Power Plant Proposed Next to Midway Village!

In the face of strong opposition and a public uproar led by Midway Village community groups and Greenaction, we are thrilled to let you know that Calpine has informed the California Energy Commission that they are withdrawing their permit application to operate a power plant at the PG&E Martin substation in Brisbane, California.

This polluting power plant was proposed to be sited on a PG&E site contaminated with toxic chemicals, just feet from the Midway Village public housing project which is contaminated with toxics from the PG&E facility. Neither Calpine, PG&E or the government bothered notifying residents about the proposal. Residents found out about this pollution threat only after Greenaction discovered the proposal and informed the community.
