Stop Dumping on Sacred Indian Land at White Mesa, Utah! White Mesa Utes, Navajos, Greenaction and allies will hold a press conference to oppose International Uranium Corporation's "uranium mill" that dumps on and desecrates burial grounds and sacred sites, and threatens public health. A coalition of White Mesa Ute Indians, Navajos, other Southern Utah residents including Greenaction, Sierra Club will hold a press conference to demand the State of Utah Radiation Control Board withdraw permission for International Uranium Corporation's uranium mill that dumps radioactive and toxic waste on ancient burial grounds and ceremonial sites. The IUC facility is located directly next to the White Mesa Ute reservation in Southern Utah, and is just a few miles from the Navajo reservation and the towns of Blanding and Bluff. Following the press conference we will testify at the State Radiation Control Board hearing at 2 p.m. in Conference Room 101. |
