Greenaction Seeks Student Interns

Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice seeks full or part-time student interns. Interns receive intensive experience working with Greenaction and communities impacted by environmental health, justice and pollution issues. Interns assist in community education, outreach and organizing, planning of events, attending and participating in government and community meetings, research and writing of fact sheets and reports, and assisting with campaign development and implementation. All internships are unpaid.

Internship & Volunteer Opportunities with Greenaction!

Assistant to the Executive Director
Work directly with Executive Director in all aspects of campaign, fundraising and administrative programs. Intern will receive intensive experience in campaign and organizational management, development and implementation.

Indian Lands Environmental Justice Project
Interns will work with Greenaction and Indigenous communities impacted by polluting industrial facilities and other toxic and nuclear threats to their health, environment and culture. Current Greenaction projects are ongoing with the Gila River Indian Community and Colorado River Indian Tribes in Arizona and the White Mesa Ute community and Navajo communities in Southern Utah. Interns will work in our San Francisco office to provide research, writing and campaign assistance to tribal members working to stop pollution threats. Fieldwork opportunities in tribal communities may be available.

Green Energy Environmental Justice Project
Interns will work with Greenaction and community groups in Bayview Hunters Point, San Francisco to assist in the campaign to close the outdated and polluting PG&E Hunters Point power plant, and to promote clean, renewable energy programs. Interns will assist in community education, outreach and organizing, planning of events, attending and participating in government and community meetings, research and writing of fact sheets and reports, and assisting with campaign development and implementation.

San Joaquin Valley Environmental Health & Justice Project
Bilingual Spanish-speaking interns will work with Greenaction and community groups in Stanislaus County to assist with several active campaigns against existing and proposed polluting projects that primarily impact low-income Latino residents. Interns will assist in community education, outreach and organizing, planning of events, attending and participating in government and community meetings, research and writing of fact sheets and reports, and assisting with campaign development and implementation.


West Oakland Environmental Health and Justice Project
Interns will work with Greenaction and community groups on toxic site cleanup issues in this low-income area of West Oakland, California.

Outreach Coordinator
Outreach coordinator needed to identify outreach and tabling opportunities, compile information on these opportunities and organize Greenaction presence at the events. Outreach coordinator will also attend events, set up Greenaction table and materials and represent Greenaction. Events are an excellent opportunity to get petitions signed, as well as to recruit activists, volunteers, interns, and supporters!

Technical Support Volunteers and Interns
Greenaction seeks interns and volunteers to help with computer equipment, database programs and database conversions. Tech volunteers/interns will train and assist Greenaction staff on computer programs as needed.

Canvassers
Canvassers are needed for door outreach and fundraising. Part time and full time paid positions available!

Graphic Design
Volunteers and interns needed to assist Greenaction with graphic design, layout, and logo development.
