Zero Dioxin and Health Care Without Harm

We are very active in the community and health alliance working to stop emissions of dioxin and other endocrine disrupting chemicals from polluters, including the I.E.S. medical waste and garbage incinerators located in East Oakland. Greenaction is active in the Zero Dioxin Alliance and the Health Care Without Harm Campaign. These campaigns bring together community and health activists, nurses, physicians, environmental organizations and policy makers working to stop dioxin emissions and to phase-out the use of PVC (poly vinyl chloride) products due to the production of dioxin in its manufacture and disposal.

Greenaction will also work in partnership with other members of the Health Care Without Harm coalition in approaching, educating and working with hospitals and other health care institutions to phase out the use of PVC materials. This work will impact similar institutions nationally and be a model for true pollution prevention success.
